At The Law Shop we are committed to offering expert legal advice at an affordable price. Whatever legal situation you are facing we aim to put you at ease by talking you through each and every step of the way.

Although we are located in the centre of Scarborough, on the North Yorkshire coast, we are able to offer services nationally in connection with a number of our services.

OUR TEAM

Ian Brickman
 
Solicitor
 
Ian was admitted as a solicitor in 1984 and deals with criminal, road traffic and family matters.
​
He is an experienced duty solicitor and a member of the Law Society Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme.
​
He regularly represents clients at the police station and in the magistrates court. He also has experience in all aspects of family law including divorce , contact and residence disputes and financial aspects of separation. He also deals regularly with proceedings brought by the local authority involving childcare matters.

David Camidge
 
Solicitor
​
David is an experienced Solicitor specialising in all aspects of crime, regularly appearing in both the Magistrates and Crown Court. A Solicitor - Advocate he is able to represent clients in respect of all criminal and motoring offences.  David is also a member of the Duty Solicitor Scheme.
​
David has a particular speciality in defending cases involving road traffic offences throughout the North Yorkshire region and also throughout the country.

Catherine Thomas
 
Solicitor
 
Catherine specialises in family law and has many years of experience in dealing with a wide variety of family matters. She was admitted as a solicitor in 1997.
​
Catherine is a member of Resolution and is also Children Law accredited.
 
Catherine deals with all aspects of family law from private contact disputes to public care proceedings and also specialises in matrimonial and financial issues.
​
Catherine deals with both privately paid and legal aid matters.

Jayne Fountain

Jayne has practised in many areas of law for 25 years, firstly  in her native Newcastle and subsequently in York and Scarborough. She has also lectured   at post graduate level at the University of Law and was an external examiner on the Legal Practice Couse for intending solicitors.
 
At the firm she handles a variety of Private Client matters, giving advice on wills and powers of attorney.
She deals in all aspects of probate and estate administration following a death . Jayne has an approachable and warm personality making all her clients feel at ease, which is particularly important for bereaved clients. She is very happy to arrange visits at home or other care setting to accommodate her clients' needs. 
Natalie Gizon
 
Trainee Legal Executive
 
Natalie graduated from the University of Lincoln with an honours degree in Law and Social Policy, Presently she is furthering her legal qualifications by studying on the Legal Executives Fast Track Graduate Scheme. She is an essential member of our team, being highly regarded by clients and colleagues alike. Natalie's strengths are put to their best advantage within our family department, where  she deals with a wide range of family practice areas including matrimonial matters, private child contact and care proceedings.
